The Fishing Edge: The Rigolets
The Rigolets is a 8 mile long strait in Louisiana, connecting the northern part of Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Borgne. It is mainly in an East~ West direction just south of coastline in that area. "Rigolets" comes from the word rigole, which is French for "trench" or "gutter." The name is locally pronounced "RIG-uh-leez,"
It is more than a trench as the waters in some places is near one hundred feet deep and at one location about 4600 feet wide. The entire length of this “gutter” is marked with NOAA Aids to Navigation consisting of lights, markers, buoys, cans, and nuns. It is a major artery for getting to and from the eastern side of Lake Pontchartrain and intersects the Inter Coastal Water Way and the Mississippi Sound waterway.
It contains many locations in the eastern side of Lake Pontchartrain such as the Old Brick Hospital Wall. There are many locations in the area just east of Lake St. Catherin such as Counterfeit Pass and Bayou Bay Jaune as well as many Edge locations around the ICWW and the Hole at Unknow Pass at Lake Borgne. It includes Four 4x Bayou at the Rigolets and around sites around Sawmill Pass. It also indicates many waypoints in the lower reaches of the West Pearl and Pearl Rivers. The Rigolets file includes some locations in the western part of Lake Borgne.
This Edge has over 180 waypoint locations
Remember that you must state your brand of GPS units, your email address and the selected area. The Edge files are NOT brand name interchangeable so be sure to make the correct GPS selection.
